The philosophical approach of the Seeking Value SIG is to keep investors aware of the special advantages they have as small, independent investors. Topics covered at most meetings cover a particular theme. Special emphasis is given to small cap equities that are not generally followed by the media, as well as the market inefficiencies that often exist in smaller capitalized equities and closed-end funds.
Investors are advised at each meeting on how to keep their emotions under control, and how to use the fear-emotional based broadcast media to their advantage by adopting a contrarian approach to an emotionally driven stock market.
The meetings are led by Larry Coudriet, current President of the AAII Pittsburgh Chapter, and an experienced value investor who resides in the Sewickley area. The meeting is a lecture format with participation and comments encouraged from the attendees in the thirty-person conference room.
